"The attached file could not be found. It may have been moved or deleted outside of Zotero."

Hi,
I am the owner of a group library and can access it's contents (as can the people I've shared it with). A colleague set up her own her library and shared it with me and another person. However, only the owner of this group library can see it's contents. Myself and the other user get this message:

"The attached file could not be found. It may have been moved or deleted outside of Zotero."

(The other user had added some items to the library, then recently changed her data directory location, although I don't think would make a difference. I also can't open any items).

Many thanks!
  • p.s. we can both open items before a particular date - looks like something went wrong to every item added after that date (although, as I say, the group owner can open everything)
  • to be clear: you see the items, you just can't open the attached files, correct?
    If so see: http://www.zotero.org/support/kb/files_not_syncing
  • p.p.s I think the person who uploaded the files may have logged in as the group owner to add a load of files but I think the account is over the storage limit. If you pay to upgrade now, will everything be added to the server and therefore shared across the whole group???
  • Hi adam, yes you're right.

I looked at the link you sent but got to the point about an arror triangle and stopped. We have one of these saying space ran out. I just logged in with the group owner and we upgraded the storage. Just re-synching that group library in my own account now.....
  • No, it still doesn;t work. Do I need the group owner to do a sync first?
  • what matters is that the person who added the attachments syncs first, since they aren't on the server yet.
  • Working all fine now - thanks for your help
