Trouble downloading references from Scopus

Hi - I usually download references by clicking on the 'save to zotero' icon that appears to the right of the web address at the top of the screen.

However, whenever I am in Scopus this icon is missing, and can't work out easy way to download the references. Not sure if I am missing something obvious here??

Can anyone help please?

Thanks
Rach
  • P.S. I should have also said I am using Chrome
  • Do you mean the URL of the scopus search I am trying to save refs from?

    http://www-scopus-com.ezproxy.auckland.ac.nz/results/results.url?cc=10&sort=plf-f&src=s&st1=addict*+and+famil*&nlo=&nlr=&nls=&sid=7E078397EB3075DCACFC57112E21BAAA.zQKnzAySRvJOZYcdfIziQ%3a100&sot=b&sdt=b&sl=68&s=TITLE-ABS-KEY%28addict*+and+famil*%29+AND+DOCTYPE%28re%29+AND+PUBYEAR+%3E+2002&ss=plf-f&ws=r-f&ps=r-f&cs=r-f&origin=resultslist&zone=resultslist#
  • This is due to the way this gets proxied. We can't deal with sites that replace the periods (as in www.scopus.com ) with hyphens (as in www-scopus-com ), at least not in the connectors.
Not sure what the status of this is in Firefox - if you do have Firefox installed give it a try.
  • Thanks for that. Yeah I tried Firefox, and had the same problem.

Does that mean I can't use Scopus at all for downloading refs to Zotero?
  • not as long as you're connecting through the proxy. You should be able to on campus or via VPN, i.e. when the URL starts with http://www.scopus.com/results...
  • Okay, thanks for your help.
  • Hi - I've managed to get in NOT via proxy (see URL below). Still not seeing the 'add to zotero' icon though??

    http://www.scopus.com/results/results.url?cc=10&sort=plf-f&src=s&st1=addict*+and+famil*&nlo=&nlr=&nls=&sid=43D77904634FC244411ECE3453A9D9B6.I0QkgbIjGqqLQ4Nw7dqZ4A%3a460&sot=b&sdt=b&sl=68&s=TITLE-ABS-KEY%28addict*+and+famil*%29+AND+DOCTYPE%28re%29+AND+PUBYEAR+%3E+2002&ss=plf-f&ws=r-f&ps=r-f&cs=r-f&origin=resultslist&zone=resultslist#
  • that should work - unfortunately none of us here has access to Scopus, so it's hard to take a look in detail, I'll see what I can do, but it won't be quick.
  • Thanks a lot, appreciate it.

hm - Scopus is working for other people. It's going to be a lot harder to troubleshoot a more isolated problem. Could you try that URL (the one without proxy) in Firefox with Zotero? Does that work?
  • I've just tried it with that URL, but when I try and sign in, it comes up with this message: The page isn't redirecting properly

Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies.
  • the URL probably isn't permanent - try following the same path you used to get there originally
  • Hi - thanks, can now get into scopus (with URL, not proxy) but still no icon for downloading to zotero from the browser address bar.
  • could you provide a debug output ID for loading a scopus single item page in Firefox http://www.zotero.org/support/debug_output ?
  • Here you go: The Debug ID is D308091883.
  • Dan, Simon - could you take a look if there is anything unusual? Does the Scopus translator load?
  • possibly this is working again now, I've made some changes to the Scopus import translator (though still probably only with the regular URL).
  • I am having similar problems with scopus. Strangely it worked fine before (4-5 days ago), but now won't.
  • a URL and a search-path (i.e. how do I get to the page you're trying to import since URLs are tied to sessions) would be helpful.
    Generally Scopus still works.
  • Hi Adam,
Thanks for getting back so quickly.

  • works for me. What's the set-up? Standalone or Firefox?
  • im on chrome. I tried to open firefox and try that, but was told zotero won't load as it is not combatible with firefox 16.0.1.
  • hmmm - scopus should be a https connection, I wonder if that's the problem. Try just adding an s between http and :// see if that works.
  • sorry - i downloaded the stand alone version and had been using download feature in the address bar.
  • my uni proxy did not like me doing that... the site became unrecognisable.
  • A translator fix is now up. Update manually using the "Update Now" button in the "General" tab of the Zotero preferences, restart both Zotero and Chrome and try again.
  • Hi Adam,
That seems to work now so many thanks
    You rock.
