Problem with error report

Good morning,

I have a problem with Zotero :
I downloaded Zotero (Fr, version 4.0 for Firefox) yesterday and only managed to save in my file 4 articles before Zotero stopped and told me there was an error report (number 1501505845, if that can be any help), and asked to restart Firefox. I did it immediately, and even restarted my computer, but I can't save any files anymore : everytime I try to save an article, I launch Zotero and it (kind of) saves the file, but I can't enter the name of the authors or the right title or the edition. Zotero writes "Une erreur est survenue. Veuillez redémarrer Firefox. Signalez cette erreur en sélectionnant "rapport d'erreur" du menu et signalez le sur le forum". Literally meaning : "there is an error report, please restart Firefox. You have to signal this error by sending an error report and post it on the forum."
I tried to restart Firefox a few time yesterday and a couple of time today, but everytime I launch Zotero to save a file it freezes. The website I am trying to save files from is Nature.com (so, usually not a spooky one!). Also, I can't close Zotero unless I restart Firefox.
This is my second day with Zotero so I don't really know what to do, so I do as I am told and post this here...

I would really appreciate any help!
Thank you very much,
And have a nice day!
  • JavaScript Error: "Creator index 2 out of sequence in Zotero.Item.save()" {file: "chrome://zotero/content/bindings/itembox.xml" line: 2124}
This happened right after installing Zotero? That's very odd, but check your database integrity from the Advanced -> Files and Folders pane of the Zotero preferences.

Did you move your Zotero data directory to a non-default location (e.g., in Dropbox or similar)? (If you don't know, you didn't.)
  • Good evening,
thank you very much for your response!

    I don't have a dropbox and I don't know about the location so I guess I didn't move anything (I hope!).
I didn't happened right away: I had time to save 4 files (journal articles) but yes, it only lasted something like 30 minutes?

What should I do with the Advanced -> Files and Folders pane?
Mine says "base repertory: "(and there is nothing written on the right)
Is that the information you were searching for?

Thank you again for your time,
    and have a lovely evening.

I don't know off-hand what the translated terms are, but at the bottom of the Advanced -> Files and Folders pane, under "Database Maintenance", the first button will be "Check Database Integrity". Click that.
  • It literally says "no problem in the database".

Thank you for your time, sorry to be bothering you...
  • If you can reproduce this easily, can you provide a Debug ID for a save attempt that produces this error? (If it takes a few tries, be sure to clear the debug output before each try so that you only submit the debug output for the attempt that fails.)
  • Good evening,
I tried to save an article again and I had the same problem.
    The debug report is D1412387625.

Thank you for the explanation in the link!

That debug output doesn't include the save attempt — be sure to start it immediately before you try to save, do the save, and then immediately submit it.

But there are all sorts of problems in there — both related to Zotero and not — suggesting that something on your system is interfering with many different parts of Firefox's operation.

If you're running security software, try disabling it. If you have any other Firefox extensions installed, try disabling them. If you're not running security software, this could be due to malware on your system.

In any case, something is intercepting your secure HTTPS requests, blocking Firefox's access to the filesystem, and causing these strange database errors in Zotero.
  • Good Evening!
I have a good news: I was trying to do it again without the add-on and it worked!

I have Microsoft essential as my security software, but it's not running (unless it can decide to run itself? I don't believe it's possible, right?)
As for add-on, I only have a few: 2 dictionaries and Add Block Plus.
I tried without Ad Block and Zotero worked flawlessly for three articles in a row!
(Just to be sure, if it was Ad Block Plus that blocked the secure HTTPS requests, it means I don't have a malware right?)

Thank you so much for you time, you just made my day!

I started a new thread for a question.
    Thank you
