Creating Bibliography

I am trying to create a bibliography from all the titles in my Zotero library to use in proof-reading my thesis. I select all the items using Ctrl-A, the right click, choose Create Bibliography from Items, choose Chicago Style 16th author/date, RTF. The report that is generated is missing many items. I can't determine any similarity in the omitted items - some books, some multiple authors, different sources for adding to Zotero. Any ideas about why items are omitted? Thank you!
  • First, make sure your Zotero is up to date (4.0.17).

Can you reproduce this with a smaller set of references (e.g. 1 omitted out of 10 or so)? If you can, submit a Debug ID for that action.

If you try to create bibliography with just the missing reference, does it work?

In either case, try to export the missing reference (right-click -> Export Item) as Zotero RDF, upload it to https://gist.github.com/ and link to it here.
  • Thanks for your reply. I figured out that if an item was imported and the author appeared as Contributor in the Info section, even though they are listed alphabetically in the Creator column in the Library, it appears in the Bibliography by the name of the article with no reference to the author. So, I went through all of the items and made sure that the author was listed as either Author or Editor. Now they appear alphabetically in the bibliography. Certainly appreciate this tool and quick response.
  • Where did you import the data from? Was it supposed to import contributors as authors, or was the data entered incorrectly in the source?
  • (we're still importing editors as contributors for MARC records - it's high time we fix that globally)
