Filename grayed out, file link still working

This is a minor non-issue, but in my Zotero database some linked files appear in gray text and some in black text. I can't tell what the difference is between them. The library is managed using ZotFile in a folder set under Linked Attachment Base Directory. All file links are active and when I double-click the file opens as expected.

So, what does the gray text mean?

    are you sure that's not just while you searching? Items that belong to a search hit (either as parents or attachments) but aren't hits themselves are greyed out.
