Standalone w/Chrome: Clicking Sync Button Does Nothing

version => 4.0.16, platform => MacIntel, oscpu => Intel Mac OS X 10.6, locale => en-US, appName => Zotero, appVersion => 4.0.16

Using Standalone w/chrome extension.

When I click the sync button, nothing happens.

The debug console produces the following error:

(3)(+0000000): Opening database 'zotero'

(1)(+0000000): Persistent descriptor in extensions.zotero.dataDir did not resolve
  • fyi, I've already:

    --re-installed standalone and the extension.
    --restarted my computer
--changed by username/password to only alphanumeric

Also, the chrome extension does not save to the standalone.

    Thanks!

Can you provide a Debug ID (http://www.zotero.org/support/debug_output) for the action of clicking the Sync button?

Other than sync not working and Chrome not communicating with Zotero Standalone, are you noticing any other problems (e.g. your library is empty...)?

Edit: also, is your Zotero data directory in some odd place, like a network location or Dropbox folder?
  • You were right on the money with the data directory path -- it was (mysteriously) set to a blank custom path, as opposed to the default profile directory.

Not sure how that happened, but it's fixed now and everything seems to be functioning.

    Thanks!
  • I might be having the same or a similar issue. Report ID: 1403150340. I sync using Box as a WebDav service and for a couple of weeks now whenever Zotero tries to sync my files up it fails and I get the big red exclamation mark (I've pretty much ignored it until now though).

    Thanks for any help!
  • jselwyn: Start a new thread.
  • that's a different issue (something happens - you're just getting an error). Make sure you're using https://dav.box.com/dav as the webdav address (this changed recently). If you are, please start a new thread.
  • That seems to have been the problem thanks!
