$Zotero.dot thinks I'm Japanese
After installing Office 2010, whenever I bring up MS Word, I get an error message asking to select the appropriate encoding, and then always forces Japanese (Shift-JIS) on me. The only way past this gate is to click "Cancel", which brings me to a second dialog box that says Word cannot open $Zotero.dot. I have confirmed that the Zotero add-ins for Word and Firefox are operative.
Should I uninstall/re-install Zotero, and if I do, will my library of references be lost?
Thanks,
Alan

adamsmithtry re-isntalling word processor component from the "Cite" tab of the Zotero preferences.

AlanGideonNo change. I even went so far as to uninstall Zotero, then re-install it and the MS Word plugin under the "cite" tab. Same dialog box sequence.

dstillmanedited December 7, 2013You should find the existing Zotero.dot file (or $Zotero.dot, if things are really messed up) and delete it. It doesn't sound like it has anything to do with Zotero itself at the current time.

AlanGideonThanks. After deleting Zotero.dot and $Zotero.dot, I still had the problem and Zotero thought that the Word plug-in was still installed. So, I uninstalled/re-instslled Zotero and all was well.
