"Series Volume"

I'm trying to import from EndNote X to Zotero, but I'm having difficulty finding a way to transfer "Series Volume" (which, to my account is something completely different than regular "Volume"). It occurs on Book, Edited Book and Book Section. Can anyone help me on this one?
  • what would be an example? Is this a number or a title?
  • It's a number. Series Title is T3 in RIS, but there seems to be no equivalent for the Series Number.
  • Series Number, in EndNote, means the number of this book within the series. For instance:

    Book Title: Make it and Break it: the cycles of pottery.
    Series Title: Archaeological Studies Leiden University
    Series Number: 5
  • We have series number in Zotero - it's supposed to get mapped to M1 in RIS from Endnote, but we're not currently importing that - I don't see any reason why not, though.

    So if I map M1 to Series Volume in EndNote before I export it to RIS, it will show as Series Number in Zotero?
  • no, it won't currently, but I think it should and we can make that happen pretty easily - if aurimas comes by he may have an idea why that's not already the case.
  • Okay, thanks!

    It would seem straightforward to simply import M1 as "Series Number", but, EndNote being EndNote, it doesn't quite follow its own messed up standards.

    For a book, EndNote exports "Series Volume" as M1 and "Number of Volumes" as NV. For a chapter, it exports "Series Volume" as SV and "Number of Volumes" as M1 (their documentation indicates IS though).
    </rant>

    We can accommodate all of that, but I'll have to double-check to make sure they haven't fixed their export by now and we'll have to figure out what to do on export (do we follow documentation or do we follow what EndNote can import?). I'll probably be able to fix this some time later today.
