library export bug

when hitting actions > export library (select notes and files) the following error occurs:

[JavaScript Error: "Zotero.Translate.RDF.addStatement: Could not convert to literal" {file: "chrome://zotero/content/xpcom/translate.js" line: 906}]

the rdf file is generated, but the attached files are not exported.

my config: zotero 1.5a1.r3130, firefox 3 on ubuntu hardy.
  • Could you upload this DB to the DB Repair Tool and send us the Upload ID at support@zot....org (ignoring the download links)? We'd be able to find the problematic item very quickly.

Alternatively, you could try to narrow this down to the item that fails by exporting by halves (and if it only happens when Export Notes is unchecked, you could focus on notes). Once you find the item in question, copy the text into a text file and send it to support@zot....org (or, if you like, try to figure out the character code of the character that's failing).
  • I worked around this problem buy launching firefox with the en_US locale, that did indeed worked fine.
  • Dev builds generally don't work with non-English locales.
  • I've gotten a similar error with completely different and very narrow circumstances. (I'm running this on a en-US version) Here's the error message:

[JavaScript Error: "Zotero.Translate.RDF.addStatement: Could not convert to literal" {file: "chrome://zotero/content/xpcom/translate.js" line: 892}]

As with Berteh, a file is created for the item, but not the attached note.

This came up trying to export a batch of items, so I tried exporting them individually, until I found the one that is causing the problem. Trouble is, I can't see anything strange about it (not proxy links, no long tags, no strange characters, no broken links to attachments, etc.)

Any ideas for how to avoid this problem?

    I'm running Zotero 1.5 SP2 on Mac OS 10.4.11

  • Joel: Does this only happen if you select Export Notes? If so, does it happen if you export the note directly? If so, can you post the note here or e-mail it to support@zot....org?
  • Dan, Thanks. I've finally gotten a chance to check this. I've identified the culprit note, and I can export it directly, and I can export it without the note, but I can't export it with the note. Also, after removing the note and attaching a new note, I can export with the attached note.

Could the problem be that the original note started with punctuation?
