Group subcollections

hi, I have a group shared with my colleagues in three different countries. We have made subcollection folders for each country and then sub collections in each country folder for three different research topics. I thought that everything that went into one topic subfolder would appear in the pertaining coutry folder above as well as the whole group folder. However, I have found that documents saved in the sub topic folders dont appear in the country folder but do appear in the over all group folder. What would be the problem? thanks

that's exactly how it's meant to work:
All items in a library are always shown at the top level (i.e. My Library or the group library's top level). For collections, item in a subcollection are, by default, not shown in its parent collections.
While there is no way to change this setting for the online version of the library, you (and anyone else) _can_ change this setting for how the library is displayed locally by setting the recursiveCollections hidden preference to true:
    http://www.zotero.org/support/preferences/hidden_preferences#general_preferences
    that setting does not sync.
  • Thanks for clearing that up. I guess we will have to reset up our folders. I am trying to find the recursiveCollections hidden preference in about:config. DonĀ“t see it. is that what it is called?
  • if you filter for "recursiveCollections" (without quotation marks) in about:config it will definitely show up, yes (obviously only in Zotero or in Firefox with Zotero installed).
