zotero in mozilla constantly switching back to read only
Hello
I posted something in this discussion forum a few weeks back about how the zotero plugin in the lower right portion of my screen started showing a yellow triangle with an exclamation point in it. The error stated something about there being an issue with 'read only' files or something of that nature.
So with your help, I figure out that I needed to go to troubleshooting, 'show folder,' and then click on the 'zotero' folder. once in the folder I right clicked and clicked on properties. I noticed the read only box was checked. So I unchecked it and it solved the problem.
Well, I'm having to do this several times a week. I'm wondering what mozilla firefox is doing (is it resetting some how?) making me have to do this over and over? Is there a way to permanently fix the read only files so they will not go back to being checked?
Thanks!

dstillmanDo you have any (misbehaving) security software on your computer? That would be one likely cause of this.

rachelf22I have avast-how would I know if it's doing something to my zotero?
-
dstillmanYou'd have to try disabling it.

rachelf22I've always had zotero running with avast and this didn't start to happen until I started using a new computer with Windows 8-not sure if that has anything to do with it?

dstillmanCan't really tell you. Zotero itself definitely isn't doing this, so it's something on your system that's interfering, and you'd have to try disabling things until this went away. But certainly switching to a new computer can introduce new issues.
