Zotero for Firefox

Hello, I'm fairly new to Zotero. I have tried searching the forums for help but am unsure what to do.

Since getting a new laptop and re-installing the software I can't get the Firefox plugin to integrate. I keep getting an error message "Zotero could not be installed because it is not compatible with Firefox 10.0.1."

I have tried downloading an earlier version of the plugin but then get "This version of Zotero is older than the version last used with your database. Please upgrade to the latest version from Zotero.org."

I tried installing an earlier version of the standalone but received similar error message. I thought to downgrade the version of firefox but before I try that I thought I could see if anyone has any suggestions.

Thanks for helping the newbie.

The most recent version of FireFox is 25.0.1. Your version is very old. There have been several generations of changes to the way FireFox interacts with add-ons and plug-ins. Also, there are serious security concerns with FF versions that old.
  • Thank you so much! When I went to the Firefox website I read the automessage of "congrats! You're using the latest version of Firefox." I trusted the message and didn't check the version myself. I feel like a dummy right now but I'm glad I asked for help and I appreciate that you took the time to answer my question. Becky
  • You are most certainly not exhibiting "dummy" behavior but it appears that the FF website was.
