How to cite not with parenthesis

I'm using zotero MS word plug-in. I'm using Chicago Manual Style.

I discovered that 'insert citation' will only give me (author date) format. That's fine when for the end of the sentence, but what if I want to cite in the beginning? such as:

Picard (2003) proposed that...

I appreciate any help.

  • In the insert citation window try clicking the box that suppresses the author.

    Does that do what you want?
  • Yes, in that case you want to use suppress author.

    Note: Zotero does support all the footnote varieties of CMS as well.
