How to cite not with parenthesis

I'm using zotero MS word plug-in. I'm using Chicago Manual Style.

I discovered that 'insert citation' will only give me (author date) format. That's fine when for the end of the sentence, but what if I want to cite in the beginning? such as:

Picard (2003) proposed that...

I appreciate any help.

    In the insert citation window try clicking the box that suppresses the author.

    Does that do what you want?

    Yes, in that case you want to use suppress author.

    Note: Zotero does support all the footnote varieties of CMS as well.
