I don't want Multi Lingual Zotero Anymore :-/
Hello Lovelies!
Please forgive the most basic nature of this whine, but I am not really very savvy and need to be spoon fed some help, if anyone feels like being mother...
The short version: I don't want ML Zotero any more! I want my old version back!
The Long Version: Updated Firefox a couple of weeks back and Zotero, both Stand alone (when I used it) and my Firefox version, kept crashing. I had a snoop online and stupidly installed the ML plugin, thinking that would solve it. It meant I could use actually use Zotero again in the short term, but I would really prefer to have my lovely old Standalone as well as a firefox version, and to be able to use both with Word for Mac, which I can no longer do.
I really don't need this ML plug in, lovely as it is for polymaths and the like, but now I am running it with the latest Zotero and don't see any other options.
Baring in mind that the instructions on the Zotero website for sorting out this problem are seriously beyond my minuscule comprehension, what should I do? Will Zotero eventually release another version that will supersede ML so that I can start over? Am I lumbered?
Oh do help, do!
PS
FYI I am running:
Firefox 25
Word for Mac 2010 14.2.2
Zotero 4.0 for Firefox with that cheeky MZ plugin
PPS
Thanks! :-O

Upgrade Storage
Once you see your data in Standalone, you can uninstall MLZ, back up and delete zotero data directory and install Zotero for Firefox (@Dan, is there any good way to reset preferences in prefs.js?). Then, set up Zotero for Firefox to work with Standalone. If you don't care much about anything else in Firefox, you can skip the uninstalling and deleting by just creating a new Firefox profile.
Again, Frank would know better, but I think the only other thing you would need to do is turn off the httpServer.enabled hidden preference
Thank you so much for your response, I do appreciate it :-)
When I look at my library in Zotero.org, it appears to be up to date and so possibly syncing ok with the MZ I am running.
However, one of my problems is that Zotero Standalone will no longer work since I installed MZ; MZ is the only version of Zotero I can get to work, and that's in Firefox.
This message pops up when I try:
"This version of Zotero is older than the version last used with your database. Please upgrade to the latest version from zotero.org.
Current version: 4.0.14
See http://zotero.org/support/kb/newer_db_version for more information."
I know that there are some instructions for sorting this on Zotero.org, but its all a bit Greek to me, no ML pun intended, and I suppose I need to be spoon fed a bit!
Thank you again...

There are various ways of doing this, but here's what I'd suggest
1. Find and back-up your Zotero data directory. Leave the data directory open.http://www.zotero.org/support/zotero_data
2. Install regular Zotero. _Don't_ restart Firefox
3. Quite Firefox
4. Move the entire Zotero data directory you found under 1. to a different location. It's important that you _move_ don't copy it.
5. Restart Firefox. You should now see an empty Zotero library.
6. Input your sync information in the sync pane and sync - you will now see your library in Zotero again. This may take some time.
7. See if Standalone works - it is possible that you need to re-install Standalone as well, but you don't have to do anything special - just reinstall.
Uninstall MLZ from Firefox. Close Firefox.
Back up the zotero folder from the first step. Delete its contents. Or delete the folder and then create a new empty "zotero" folder.
Open Firefox, go to zotero.org and install Zotero for Firefox.
In Zotero for Firefox, open Preferences -> Advanced -> Files and Folders. Under Data Directory Location click choose and navigate to the "zotero" folder that should now be empty. Select it as your data directory.
Restart Firefox, set up syncing, and sync your library.
Once it's done. You should also be able to see the same library in Zotero Standalone.
Edit: I think if you follow either of these instructions, it will work.
Thank you so much for your responses - I'll give your instructions a whirl and let you know how I go. Really appreciate your taking the time to try an help me out! Thank you!
Just wanted to let you know that, thanks to your kind intervention, I am up and running with Standalone again :-D
Apologies for taking so long to get back to you, your comments helped me to resolve this issue painlessly.
Very best wishes and thanks!
