Difficulties syncing

Both the middle and right panes in Zotero show nothing but "Loading items list...", and syncing is not completing (I've had it running overnight).

The last sync time shows as 24 days ago. Help would be greatly appreciated.

    Make sure you are running the latest version of Zotero (4.0.11 if Standalone, 4.0.12 if Firefox) and, if applicable, Firefox (version 25). Restart your computer.

    If it doesn't help, go to Preferences -> Advanced -> General. Under Debug Output Logging, check the "Enable after restart" checkbox. Restart Firefox or Zotero Standalone. Go back to Preferences -> Advanced -> General and click Submit to Zotero Server. Post here the Debug ID it provides.

    Edit: I should have asked, is the "Loading items list..." message there immediately after you start Zotero?
  • It is there immediately, yes.

  • First upgrade to Zotero 4.0.12. You're still on 4.0.8. (And make sure add-on auto-updates are enabled.)

    If you're still having trouble, try disabling your other Firefox extensions (particularly any related to Zotero).
  • Obvious question: where is the option to check for updates and upgrade to 4.0.12?
  • The auto-update setting is a Firefox setting: Firefox preferences -> Advanced -> Update. It's enabled by default.

    But you can install 4.0.12 now from http://www.zotero.org/download/ (or you can check for updates manually from the Firefox add-ons window).
  • Auto-updates are enabled in Firefox. I'm not sure why it hasn't installed the latest version of Zotero.

    In any case, a manual update fixed the issue. Thanks for the help.
