no "add to zotero" icon in address bar for many sites

I'm new to zotero. I immediately went to some of my research sites to load into the database, but there was no "add to zotero" icon in a number of the address bars. Am I doing something wrong? I'm on a Mac.

    Just because you can see bibligraphic data on a website doesn't always mean that it's in a Zotero friendly format.
