Chrome Zotero Connector won't connect to Zotero Standalone

When trying to add an new item from Chrome by clicking the 'article icon' the notifier (Saving item) in the lower right corner shows up as if it is about to be saved, but then an new window wants me to login to "Zotero Online". With the result that nothing is saved to my Zotero Standalone.

Went into the preferences for the Chrome Zotero connector and under 'Zotero standalone' it says that "Zotero Standalone is currently unavailable" and under error reports it says;

[JavaScript Error: "Cannot read property 'id' of undefined" {file: "chrome-extension://ekhagklcjbdpajgpjgmbionohlpdbjgc/background.js" line: 75}]

Uninstalled the connector, rebooted and installed the connector again did not help. As well tried to 'update status' without success.

Versions;
Google Chrome Version 30.0.1599.101 m [Was updated yesterday]
Zotero Connector 4.0.8.2
Zotero Standalone 4.0.11
(Firefox Zotero 4.0.12)

  • Do you have a proxy configured? Some proxy configurations prevent the Chrome connector from saving directly to Zotero Standalone, although it's usually possible to fix the configuration. In any case, you can always save to zotero.org and synchronize with Zotero Standalone.
  • I have been running Standalone and Chrome Connector as long as the standalone versions been available without problems it was just yesterday when it stopped working. Maybe the IT-department changed something regarding proxy settings then.

    However, I got it working again by in Win7 going into 'Internet properties' > 'Connections' > 'LAN settings' where i checked the box of "Bypass proxy server for local addresses".

    Thanks for the help!
