Is the Highlight and Annotation Tool only for snapshots of Web pages? I haven't been able to use it on any of my PDFs? Why is that? Is there a way around that?
Acrobat Reader allows highlighting when used independently (not as a browser extension) by enabling comments, at least for pdfs that are searchable text as opposed to strictly image files. I can highlight Zotero pdfs by launching Reader outside the browser, navigating to the zotero file from Reader and highlighting there, then saving. When I re-open the saved pdf via zotero, the highlighting sticks. So does anyone know of a way of turning on the comments toolbar for Acrobat when it is used within the browser, as a Firefox extension?
Clarification -- Highlighting works outside the browser from Acrobat Professional. It works for Acrobat Reader only if the creator of the pdf has specifically enabled comments, which I have yet to see for pdfs of journal articles
