multiple citations in Word document

Help! Anyone know how to solve this issue?: My Word plug-in working fine when I put in individual citations, for instance I want to cite 2 articles, one by Koeppe, one by Meeker. Both are in the system, both I can add individually from drop-down list. However, when after I add one citation, say Koeppe, I add a comma/space and then go to click on the other article, suddenly I can't get it to come up, its not there, no Meeker. If I start a brand new citation Meeker comes up again and I can add to document. QUESTION: Why are the drop-down list items disappearing when I want to add more than one citation at a time. Ex: (Meeker et al. 2012, Koeppe et al. 2011).
  • does this help?

  • Thanks for trying, but that's not the issue. I know how to add multiple citations. It's just having picked one (koeppe) from the drop down menu, then going to add the other citation, (meeker), suddenly that PARTICULAR citation is no where to be found in the drop down menu. Other choice appear, I can pick those, but not the one I need--its very odd. It doesn't matter what order I do it in. Tried this multiple times. I can cite both articles in this way: so and so (koeppe et al. 2011) and then so and so (Meeker et al. 2012). But because the other article suddenly disappears from the drop down menu I can't do (Koeppe et al. 2011, Meeker et al. 2012).

oh OK, I misunderstood that. Can you add both in one multiple source citation using the classical view? (you can switch to classical view by clicking on the little triangle on the left of the quick format bar.).
  • Thank you Adamsmith you are AWESOME! Will Try.
  • if this works in classic view, I'd still be curious what's going wrong in quick format, though. Obviously this shouldn't happen.
  • Actually I just tried it again in the old way with the exact same 2 references and it worked!!! I did nothing different, this is very strange! But was able to add one, went to see if the other exact citation would come up in drop down menu and Voila!!! It came back from never never land! Very very strange. Could it be some strange glitch in Zotero? The computer was on whole time, no changes to explain this. But am very thankful it seems to work right now! Hmmm...
  • not sure, though generally computers are better than humans at replicating things ;)
