Mac Standalone trouble syncing

I've just installed the standalone on my mac laptop. When I entered my username and pw, and tried to sync, i got the following:

[JavaScript Error: "Error connecting to server. Check your Internet connection." {file: "chrome://zotero/content/xpcom/sync.js" line: 645}]

Internet access is not the issue. When I sync on my windows laptop it seems to work fine. Any ideas? Thanks.

Do you have a system proxy configured on that computer (including an autoconfiguration setting, even if you're not using a proxy)? If so, try disabling it.
  • Yep, I found the offending setting in Firefox preferences. Turned off the proxy settings and it seems to be working now. Thanks!
  • What was the offending setting, out of curiosity?
  • Apparently the settings for firefox (which is installed but not being used on this laptop) were preventing it from connecting. I went to Firefox preferences->advanced->network->(connection) settings-> and selected "no proxy".

We used to have a proxy server so it was previously set up for that, I think.
