Opening PDF attachments in tabs

I use PDF-Xchange Viewer to open the PDFs associated to my Zotero items, and I have set that software to open all PDFs in tabs rather than in separate windows on the taskbar. However, whenever I double-click on a Zotero items, the PDF is still opened in a new window. Any way to make it open in a new tab instead?

    Zotero just passes the file on to your operating system to open. It has no influence on what happens then. I'd expect you to see the same behavior if you double-click a PDF file in Windows Explorer.

    THat's correct. So perhaps I should ask this question to the makers of PDF Xchange instead of here?

    you could certainly try that, yes. Only thing I can tell you is that Zotero can't do anything about this.

    You need carefully review Xchange plugin settings and change them accordingly. Mine opens PDFs in tabs.

    This works fine for me in PDF-Xchange Viewer. Double-clicking on a second item opens it in a tab in PDF-X, not in a new window. My PDF-Xchange preferences are:
    Documents layout: Multiple documents>Tabbed documents
