Signature mapping for different libraries

Hi together,
I'd like to suggest to change the type of signature field for books, library catalogue and archive location from a single string to a mapping allowing specification for all three fields for different libraries and archives possibly using different signature and location codes. In the current setup working in different libraries requires saving the signatures with a self defined separator.

I doubt that will happen any time soon if at all. It'd pose all types of issues, starting with the GUI, but also syncing, mapping to citation styles (all fields are citeable), etc.
My guess would be that best practice would be to either use a custom delimiter or to use notes for keeping track of multiple versions of the same item.
Depending on use case, you could also save multiple version and connect them via the "related" button, but that would get you into trouble easily if you're using the word processor plugins.

I agree that this seems a lot of work for a less important use case. I will continue using a delimiter. Maybe it will be on a development schedule for a future version.

Just in case somebody ever takes this to a development phase, please also consider that two exemplars of the same book might have different signatures, so the mapping should be between a library key and a list of tuples of signature and location information.
