Foreign language accents in Zotero

How can I use foreign language accents (in my case French) in Zotero? I tried using the "Ctrl ' " for an accent aigu, which works in Word, but to no avail in Zotero.

    For some reason, Word uses different shortcuts for editing than the rest of Windows uses.

    Thanks so much! I was able to use accented characters by switching to the US international keyboard in the control panel.

    The US Intl Keyboard change did not work for me.
