Classic view

Hi, I'm newbies in Zotero.
Could anyone please help me how to make my Zotero Insert Citation become "classic view" directly anytime I will insert citation rather than provided with long red tube (with the "Z") and has to click "Classic View".

Thanks so much.
  • You can do so from the Cite pane of the Zotero preferences.

Out of curiosity (and since it won't be around forever), what do you prefer about the classic view?
  • Thanks so much Dan for your help.

What I really like from the classic view is that it helps me to find a reference that I don't exactly remember but I know where I put in particular folder. So instead of randomly guessing I can directly search the reference in any particular folder.

Once again thanks so much Dan.
  • @Dan (and Simon) - judging by my workshop experience, people are _very_ attached to the classic view for exactly the reason Estilo wants to have it. If you were to get rid of it, expect a lot of very unhappy users.
  • Right, I wasn't suggesting that we'd remove it without an alternative (e.g., the ability to pull up the collection tree in some form in the new window, the ability to insert into a document from Zotero (which I think Simon prefers))—just that it doesn't make sense for something called "Classic View" to stick around forever.
  • oh good. FWIW I agree with Simon re:
the ability to insert into a document from Zotero (which I think Simon prefers))
  • I personally think that's a little weird, given that you have to keep a mental model of what document is the top-most window in another program, and also people generally don't know how to efficiently switch between programs (i.e., Cmd-Tab/Alt-Tab), but it's definitely been requested before.
