cannot sync with Zotero server

RE Error report: 581639365

Hi - I cannot seem to sync my local Zotero library with the server. I've restarted my machine repeatedly and got the same error message. I access my university library via a proxy server and have had some trouble accessing articles via my extranet, but that problem seemed to have gone away. But synching now seems to not work.

Please let me know what other information you'd need to help me resolve this issue.

  • There's no Zotero error in there. What's the error you're seeing when you click the sync error icon?

    I actually have 2 problems with my new Zotero installation:

    RE the error I reported above: The Zotero error that was displayed read "A file sync error occurred. Please try syncing again.

    If you receive this message repeatedly, restart undefined and/or your computer and try again. If you continue to receive the message, submit an error report and post the Report ID to a new thread in the Zotero Forums."

    In the meantime, I have restarted my machine several times, and Zotero now simply hangs when I try syncing again. When I cancel the sync operation, the same error message appears.

    What does "hangs" mean? How are you canceling the sync if it's hanging?
  • A couple of times I have closed Firefox (I run Zotero embedded in Firefox), and then after re-starting I was able to select the 'cancel' button next to the green sync icon. Sometimes that didn't work and Zotero started syncing automatically.

    I've now let it try to sync for a few hours, and it just stopped trying to sync, and displayed the error again

    "A file sync error occurred. Please try syncing again.

  • I still don't know what you mean regarding hanging, but if you're getting an actual error, try providing another Report ID.
  • I submitted a question yesterday on this issue but can't find the thread and this is becoming urgent. I had not been into Zotero for about 2 mos and now access to my personal library files is unavailable. I am the owner/origniator of a Group Library and I can into that online, but I DO NOT have the Zotero shuttle button showing in my Firefox window so it is not possible for me to access my full personal library.
    Q: How do I restore the Zotero local library access button in my Firefox window???? Please Help!
