Creating accurate bibliography from references

Hello, I am working on my references for my masters thesis. My macbook pro crashed but I was able to recover my thesis and all my references with help from this forum. However the in-text citations don't match up to the bibliography that zotero generates anymore when I use the "add bibliography" or "create bibliography" functions. Is there a way to repair this without starting from scratch? this would be tough b/c I don't know whether to trust the in text citations or the reference list and would have to return to my source material for every reference and quote to fix this, unless a kind soul has a simpler solution. I'm using the NEJm format. thank you for reading!

    P.S. some of the references match up fine, but many don't. I'll start checking them one by one to gauge the extent of the problem.

    What steps did you take to recover your thesis and Zotero library? Did you receive any alert/warning messages from Zotero (esp. in the word processor)?
