Serveral Suggestions...

Hi,

I miss/would like to change:

- I'd like to have the choice between "view sources of all subfolders" and the current setting which just shows the sources of the current folder without the subfolders

- I miss an option for copy and cut/paste of sources. Currently, I have to drag&drop and then to delete the original source...

- I muss a functionality to always (!) import websites as html-snapshots, not only with supported websites

- I miss a PDF import plugin which allows importing PDF files that are already opened in the web browser/PDF viewer etc and that are therefore already stored in the windows temp folder. Currently, I have to save the PDF-file and import it to zotero manually.

- I wish I could edit the buttons of the info-box on the right

- How about a button "source properties" with an item for "Stored in these folders/subfolders/groups" or "No zotero folder/group assigned"

- And last but not least: I know it depends on the author of the PDF-Files but the metadata-detection of the PDF-Files does succesfully detect only one out of ten files which is "not very" useful for me...

Thanks,
Don

    check "recursive collections" hidden preference:

See here for context. This will likely happen, though it also seems like you're misunderstanding what's actually going on:
    https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/17606/move-not-copy-items-between-collections/
    - I muss a functionality to always (!) import websites as html-snapshots, not only with supported websites
right-click anywhere on the page --> Save as Zotero Snapshot
    - I miss a PDF import plugin which allows importing PDF files that are already opened in the web browser/PDF viewer etc and that are therefore already stored in the windows temp folder. Currently, I have to save the PDF-file and import it to zotero manually.
just drag the favicon (the one at the left of the URL bar icon) to Zotero. When using Firefox you can also use the "Create New Web Page Item..." button.
    - How about a button "source properties" with an item for "Stored in these folders/subfolders/groups" or "No zotero folder/group assigned"
    http://www.zotero.org/support/collections_and_tags?&#identifying_collections_an_item_is_in
as well as the "Unfiled Items" folder.
    - And last but not least: I know it depends on the author of the PDF-Files but the metadata-detection of the PDF-Files does succesfully detect only one out of ten files which is "not very" useful for me...
If these are journal articles, something isn't working right. That should be closer to 8/9 out of ten. Start a new thread with some details (including examples of journal articles that aren't working)

Thanks for your comments. Now, everything is fine except this one is not available in my Zotero versions (standalone or ff addon, Win7, all updates):

    Nothing happens while pressing Ctrl...

And, due to the firefox-configuration, the "also see subfolder content" doesn't seem to be possible in the standalone version....

The favicon picker is just... wow!!!!!!!!!!!

Make sure you have an item selected that's in a collection, and that the collection is visible. The highlighting is a little subtle, but it definitely works.

You can open about:config via the Advanced pane of the Zotero Standalone preferences.

Dan, since the subtlety issue comes up quite often, have you considered making highlighted collections stand out more?

In addition to selecting a different shading color, how about:
    - adding some kind of marker to highlighted collections (e.g. http://i.imgur.com/3uv5L2Z.jpg )
    - greying out non-matching collections (e.g. http://i.imgur.com/m9ktWKh.jpg )

I guess I said that because someone said it was recently, but I don't actually think it's particularly subtle. At least on my system, it's quite noticeable. I doubt the problem is that asd3 just isn't seeing it. And in general, I don't think people have trouble because they don't see it—they have trouble because they don't know it's a feature to begin with.
  • Fair enough.
they have trouble because they don't know it's a feature to begin with.
Or because it behaves rather erratically? As I mentioned before, collection highlighting has never worked well for me on a variety of Windows systems:

  • OK, I can reproduce that on Windows. Issue created.
  • I could edit the about:config in the Advanced pane of Zotero! Thank you!

And I also could make the collections of items visible by pressing the Alt-key, not Ctrl! My OS is Windows 7, 32bit. This subtle shading colour works stable, I can see it perfectly without any problems as mentioned above...

    Thank you for your help!

Are you sure you don't mean the inverse? Alt doesn't highlight collections on Windows. Ctrl does. If Alt is doing it for you, there's something strange going on with your system.
