LINUX - Is there a compiled version of the tarball available?

As a newbie who finds tarballs impossible(believe me I've tried), is there another way?
  • The standalone linked to from the download page is compiled.

'tar -xvjf Zotero-4.0.11_linux-i686.tar.bz2' to extract and './run_zotero.sh' to run.

Or just install the firefox extension.
  • First bit is ok once I put name for 64-bit version in.

    Second bit produces:

bash: ./run_zotero.sh: No such file or directory

Where does the first bit extract to?

    Many thanks. LCW

There are third-party packages of Zotero for various Linux distributions. If you're having trouble with this, you should use one of those or use the Firefox extension.

But also note that you don't need to do this from the command line. You can just double-click run-zotero.sh from the GUI (or possibly just 'zotero', depending on your system). But if you're not using a package, really you would just want to stash the folder somewhere and add that script to your launcher.
  • Thanks Dan. Up and running.
