footnote options not available in default output format

I was wondering what happened--I make many more footnotes than bibliographic entries, so I had my default set to Chicago style footnote.
First name last name, _title_, (publication place: publisher, date)

??
  • What is the problem you experience, exactly? I don't follow you right now.
  • Wow--I couldn't log in AGAIN. So I had to create a whole new account just to respond.

So prob #1: Can't log into my account. Last time I put in comment, it took multiple tries of setting and resetting my password. I kept getting the "invalid credentials" message. It worked when I used my username instead of email. So I tried that when I wanted to respond to your comment. It didn't work, so I created a new account.

Prob #2: I do not see in Export in preferences pan, the choice to make a footnote rather than a bibliographic note to "Default Output Format." All the choices--and I clicked on every Chicago one, has surname first.

    e.g.,
McLelland, Mark. 2012. Love, Sex, and Democracy in Japan During the American Occupation. New York: Palgrave Macmillan.

That is not the proper footnote form. That would be for the same book--let's say to refer to page 6 of the book:

Mark McLelland, _Love, Sex, and Democracy in Japan During the American Occupation_ (New York: Palgrave Macmillan,2012), 6.

Underscore to mean italics, of course.

I used to be able to drag and drop the footnote form to say, Scrivener, or Word. Now, it's not an option and the very ability to drag & drop from Firefox was disabled. I was wondering why until I opened the stand alone zotero app and that I was dragged and dropped was in the incorrect form. So I checked my settings and discussed the unhappy surprise of not having the default footnote option.

Then, I went back to Firefox and found that the default option had been de-selected, and I was limited to the bibliographic form on Firefox, too. That's why, I guess, the drag and drop wasn't working.

Meanwhile, after I wrote this note on the forum, I closed Firefox (so that I could focus on writing!) and tried to drag and drop the cite. I figured I could manually fix later on.

But no! The stand alone app was no longer allowing me to drag and drop even the incorrect bibliographic form. I was forced to copy & paste instead.

Meanwhile, I noticed that there was a response to my inquiry. So I opened Firefox again and found I couldn't log in to my account. Thus, I was forced to make a brand new acct just to respond.

    :(
  • And to reiterate: when we historians write papers, we use footnotes much more frequently. Oftentimes, bibliographies are not even included in journals and books.
  • To drag&drop in footnotes format in the default output format, hold the shift key while dragging.
  • Thanks, that worked. So did my login this time!
