Error occured and also having trouble with plug-in.

Hi!

None of my citation styles are showing up in my plug-in and my library is not showing up either. Here is my report ID: 49696127
  • There are no Zotero errors there. Could you be a bit more specific about the problem? If necessary, take a screenshot, upload it somewhere (e.g., Dropbox, imageshack.us) and post a link here.
  • Okay, there are actually two separate problems occurring.

    1) For some reason my Firefox plug-in is not displaying my Zotero library. There is a red exclamation point that says this: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1NUBIJQX7lRieFLq6p0X-comL3PgRYmW_2oS0SsE7eCA/edit

2.) The second problem is that my Microsoft Word plug-in does not seem to be working. When I set my document preferences to APA a dialog box says that the citation style that I chose is not valid. Why might that be the case? I should mention that I was using track changes. Would that cause the problem?

    Thank you!
    Rebekah
  • OK, you're getting a disk I/O error. We can't tell you why that's happening, but it's likely either some software on your system that's interfering with Zotero's ability to access the disk or an actual problem with your disk. If you have your Zotero data directory on a network drive, move it to your local drive. If you're running some sort of security software, try disabling it.
  • And the Word plugin won't work if Zotero isn't working.
  • My data directory lives in a folder on my desktop. Would that be my local drive or is a local drive somewhere else?
  • That's a local drive, so that wouldn't be it, assuming there's nothing weird going on with this system (e.g., a home directory that's mirrored to a server).
  • No, I don't think there is anything weird like a mirrored server. All of a sudden every time I try to sync my Zotero library, Firefox crashes. It wasn't doing that a second ago.
  • See above. There's not really any way for us to debug this, as it's not a problem in Zotero. You'll have to figure out what on your system is interfering.
  • Obviously you should also try just restarting your computer, if you haven't yet.
  • Thanks, Dan. I'm making some progress. The library is populating my Zotero plug-in now, it just crashes if I try to plug a citation into my Word doc. One step at a time. :)

    I appreciate your help.
  • Hi Dan,

I hate to bug you when I know the problem is on my side, but maybe you have a suggestion. Every time I click on the Zotero icon on the bottom right side of my Firefox browser, Firefox crashes. I can't even look at my preferences because the browser crashes before I can. Do you have any idea what might be interfering and how I can fix it?

    Thank you,
    Rebekah
  • It's not impossible that there's an actual problem with your disk, so you should make sure you have a backup of your hard drive and then check it for errors.
