Problems with UMich / Mirlyn

I admit that I am a rank amateur with Zotero (but is it cool!)

While trying to learn how to use the system, I logged into the UMich library system. I was unable to successfully capture a single reference or a list of references. I was able to capture references from other sources.

Can you please suggest what I might have to do to resolve this problem.

Thank you.
  • I was able to capture individual references, but not lists of references. Were you logged into the library catalog through a proxy?
  • I do not believe that I am using a proxy. (I checked under Internet Settings and there was no proxy showing.) I tried this as Joe Public and when logged in - same result. I had the same problem today with IEEE Explore - I get 'Could not save item'.

I am wondering if perhaps some other FF plugin is causing the problem?
  • Can you provide some URLs that don't work?

  • To try to eliminate other plug-ins as potential problems:
I created a new FF profile and installed zotero. After doing this, the following add-ons were a part of this profile: zotero, roboform, and skype. I tried the above pages again and had the same problem.
  • Can you try disabling RoboForm and Skype in Tools->Add-ons?
  • Dan,

Thanks for helping. I created a new profile, disabled all add-ons (only RoboForm - skype was not displayed), then I also disabled all plug-ins. I tried the ieeeEsplore link above and had the same issue. Quite frustrating - I REALLY want to start using this great tool.
  • I tried this links on another computer and they worked just fine. The major difference is that the other machine is running FF 2.0. Would truly like to try to fix the problem on the first machine. I will try uninstalling then reinstalling Zotero.
  • Uninstalling and reinstalling did not resolve the problem.
  • I just tried this URL, http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18506993?ordinalpos=1&itool=EntrezSystem2.PEntrez.Pubmed.Pubmed_ResultsPanel.Pubmed_RVDocSum, and Zotero captured it just fine. Very peculiar!
