libreoffice 4.0.4-1 breaks zotero-libreoffice 3.5.6

Running Arch Linux. After recent upgrade to libreoffice 4.0.4-1, all files previously formatted using the zotero-libreoffice integration now crash on startup. This was fixed by downgrading libreoffice back to 4.0.3-3. Any ideas whether this is a plugin issue or a bug in the new libreoffice version?

    The LibreOffice plugin doesn't do anything unless you click one of the buttons in the toolbar. If LibreOffice crashes when you open a file, it's almost certainly a LibreOffice bug. I'll see if I can reproduce this.

    If the plugin isn't running on startup, I would guess that libreoffice is having problems identifying and/or managing the citations or bibliography embedded by zotero, causing it to hang then crash.

    I can't reproduce a crash with the official LibreOffice 4.0.4 binaries from http://www.libreoffice.org/, although that could be because my test document isn't sufficient to trigger the issue. Would you mind checking whether you can reproduce this crash with the official LibreOffice binaries?

    Interesting. I'll see if I can reproduce this fault with a clean install on another machine using the Libreoffice binaries and report back. I'll also try using a variety of test docs and see if that makes a difference.

    With a completely clean install on another machine with the libreoffice source built from scratch my test files now read OK. Using the original packages on a clean machine also works OK.

    I wiped all the config files in my home folder that related to libreoffice before sending the intial post, so I can't believe that this was the problem. I also reinstalled all the zotero plugins into libreoffice several times before admitting defeat.

    Still don't know what the initial problem was, but I'm happy as long as I can solve it with a clean install.
