Chrome - Zotero icon not showing in address bar.

I can't see any icon appears in the address bar for Chrome.
I have the extention for Chrome and using Zotero Standalone
with LibreOffice extention.
I'm looking for e-journals to use in my assignment for universty.
Is there something Im missing to get it working??

Advise please.
  • In Chrome - is the Zotero Connector listed under "tools--> extensions"? If so, do any errors come up when you click on "Options" (copy them here).
  • [JavaScript Error: "Attempting to use a disconnected port object" {file: "miscellaneous_bindings" line: 57}]

[JavaScript Error: "undefined is not a function" {file: "chrome-extension://ekhagklcjbdpajgpjgmbionohlpdbjgc/zotero.js" line: 95}]

I updated Zotero Standalone to v4.0.4 a few minutes earlier. Could the Standalone update be causing the problem?
  • Standalone 4.0.4 and Chrome work in general.
I think the first thing I'd try is to re-install the Chrome extension and the restart your computer, see if that makes a difference.
  • I'm having the same problem. I don't get an error when I click on "tools--> extensions" and then click "options." On some pages I can right click and see the save snapshot from current page option. However, I would like to have the icon at the top with my other icons such as evernote, etc.

I am also using Chrome. I have tried rebooting, etc.
  • you only get the URL bar icon on supported pages such as
    http://www.amazon.com/Wealth-Nations-Adam-Smith/dp/161382081X/
  • I don't get it on that page. Or in PubMed.
  • I'm having the same problem--no Zotero icon at all in the address bar for any web site, including Google Scholar, Google Books, my university's library site (which normally works), Amazon. I reinstalled the Chrome plugin and restarted my computer but still same problem. If I open the options from the "Extensions" page, I see a screen with "General" and "Advanced," but clicking on them does nothing, and it doesn't log any errors with Zotero. I can still "Save Snapshot" but of course that's useless for bibliographic data.

    I'm using Ubuntu and Chromium.
  • which version of the Chrome Extension do you have installed?
  • The most recent one. I uninstalled the one I noticed the problem with and reinstalled from the Chrome extensions web site (4.0.8).
  • broken for me on Ubuntu/Chromium, too. Simon will have to take a look.
  • It does work in the latest Chrome version for Ubuntu though (I understand you may not want to use that, but it's likely relevant for troubleshooting - Chromium is three versions behind the regular stable Chrome)
  • Yes it does work in the latest version of Chrome for Ubuntu. Thanks for the suggestion.
  • joehill: Compatibility with Chrome/Chromium 25 is fixed in Zotero Connector 4.0.8.1, available now.
  • Thanks, I just updated to 4.0.8.2 and it now works for me in both Chrome (28.0.1500.63) and Chromium (25.0.1364.160-0ubuntu3).
  • Thanks Simon and joehill - working off your info, I resolved this issue by uninstalling the Zotero Connector extension and reinstalling. This means that the latest version (4.0.8.2) is installed, and Zotero works again. Cheers
