Bonjour
We are trying since many day to make Upper Case of the Last name of author etc, Only in the Bibliography of Chicago Manual Full note, without any success

If the name is Muhammad Nadeem Mirza

I wish to appear it same in the footnote,
but in biblio, I wish to appear like

MIRZA, M.N.

Any help please
  • You can use the CSL visual editor.
    A usage guide is here.

1.Search for "Chicago" and click the Edit button under "Chicago Manual of Style (full note)"
    2. In the "Example Bibliography", click on the creators' name (should be "Accadia, T, F Acernese, M Alshourbagy, P Amico, F Antonucci, S Aoudia, N Arnaud, et al." or "McInnis, Maurie Dee, and Louis P. Nelson.")

    3. In the left pane, select the "Name" node. In the bottom-right pane, enable the initialize-with attribute (click the Enable button) and then type "." (without quotes) in the initialize-with field.

    4. In the left pane, select the "Name" node, then you have to add (+ button) a "name-part" element under this "Name" node. In this new name-part element, (bottom-right pane) set text-case=uppercase and name=family.

    5. Change the Style Title and ID (left pane, under Style Info -> Info), e.g. "Chicago Manual of Style (full note) CUSTOM" and "http://www.zotero.org/styles/chicago-fullnote-bibliography-custom"
and save your style to install it in Zotero (follow the instructions)
  • the method you mentioned changed the complete name in Footnote into Upper Case, It did not have any effect on the Biblio

I wish to change ONLY the LAST NAME in the Bibliography (not the First name), and dont wish to change the style of the footnote...

    The Example is
If the name is Muhammad Nadeem Mirza (in the footnote)

I wish it to appear it like mentioned below in bibliography
    MIRZA, M.N.

    Thanks in advance
  • you picked the wrong name node then - try another one. You get to the correct one by clicking on the Name in the bibliography as Gracile describes under step 2.)
It also doesn't sound like you checked the initialize option as Gracile describes.
  • Thanks Gentlmen
    It worked....
  • AHhh
How can we get rid of URL and Section field in the bibliography??
    Any suggestion

    For example
SANGER, D.E., and H. COOPER. “Donilon Replaces Jones in National Security Job.” The New York Times, October 8, 2010. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/10/09/world/09prexy.html

I wish it to be like (without URL, Section, DOI etc)
SANGER, D.E., and H. COOPER. “Donilon Replaces Jones in National Security Job.” The New York Times, October 8, 2010.

    Thanks in advance
  • The general idea is to add an example citation which has a URL. Then click the URL and delete the relevant node in the left pane.
