Name of file too long?

When I try to sync my library with my web library, I get this error message:
[JavaScript Error: "Error: Name 'Department of the Navy. Office of the Chief of Nav…' too long" {file: "chrome://zotero/content/xpcom/sync.js" line: 638}]

The file doesn't seem to be in my Zotero library at all, so I'm not sure how to remove/edit the name. Could anyone help me fix this error?

    Zotero is telling you that you have an item where there is an author/editor (or some other contributor) named "Department of the Navy. Office of the Chief of Nav..." and that name is too long.

    Search for "Department of the Navy. Office of the Chief" in Zotero and you should be able to find the item. Shorten (or split up?) the name and you should be able to sync.

    If you don't mind, how did that name end up there? Was this item imported from a website? If so, can you provide the URL?

    Edit: the item could be in Trash, so make sure you either check there as well or empty it.

    Hmm. I found all the entries with that author name (or other long ones) and chopped them so they're short, but I'm still getting the same error message. I checked the trash and everything.

    It's a record from the National Archives' ARC. I did pull it down from that website, but I don't have a URL; sorry. (I can't figure out exactly the page I was able to pull down the info from, even though I can easily see the record again.)

    I can't access the Report ID data. You'll have to wait for Dan to come around (it's the weekend, so it might take a while).

    Do you also have a group library? There might be an item with that name in the group library.

    Are you sure that the error message is exactly the same?

    Not really anything else to tell you. If you're getting the message, an item with that creator is still in one of your libraries. It should be trivial to find via the quick search bar. (But as aurimas said, if something in the trash it wouldn't show up in a search in the library root.)
