Upgrade StorageDragging of attached files broken in Ubuntu

When I try to drag a pdf to my desktop it creates a "dropped text.txt" file with this content
1. âThe Time that Is Left agamben.pdf.â
instead of the actual pdf file I wanted. The pdf in Zotero is fine - I can open it by using show file etc.
Is this linked to not being able to drag files into Zotero (which I've also raised)?
