Exporting database from procite 5 into zotero

Hi everybody! I just need to start off by saying that I am not very experienced/ familiar with zotero or exporting whole databases from one program to another.

I am currently using procite 5, but I need to export all my entries into zotero. I was hoping for maybe a step by step walkthru on how I could get this accomplished. I've tried on my own but I am pretty clueless when it comes to this. Your help would be greatly appreciated!
  • The basic approach would be to export from Procite in a format Zotero can read - most likely RIS - and then to import in Zotero.
Since Procite is by now a rather marginal product we don't have a lot of user reports on how well that works, but we'll work with you if you encounter any specific problems on the way.
  • There's a rather long thread with a custom RIS translator that deals with Procite here: https://forums.zotero.org/discussion/22615/1/procite-to-zotero-conversion-translator-ris-and-testing/
  • I saw the Tutorial that was provided in that thread, however I'm having trouble downloading the RIS-EndNote Style output that was mentioned as being needed to export the data into Zotero

IIRC correctly, most of this has been packed into the regular translator. Have you tried just importing into Zotero?

edit: I think I misunderstood. For the Procite output filter, see aurimas below.
  • Unfortunately, I don't recall where Procite hosts the export filters (styles). I found one website that requires a login, so I can't confirm. I'll look around - maybe I still have the file from way back then.
  • If Thompson Reuters doesn't sue me, the style is available at https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/24145369/RIS-EndNote.pos

Actually, I never ended up packaging the ProCite changes into our RIS (I still want to do it though). And there are some optimizations in that custom translator that offer significant improvements. ProCite does a lot of
    A1 - Smith, John
    N1 - Role: Editor

which our RIS translator does not understand.
