Cannot add citation to text box in Word

Hi all,

I am writing a document and I am using text boxes to house examples. When I try to add a citation to text within the text box I get the error: "Zotero fields cannot be inserted here".

Is there a reason for this?? I am currently getting around it by putting a fake reference in and making a real reference at the end of a paragraph and turning the text white, but I dont think that will work as this document is going to be made into a coloured pampglet.

Any ideas? I am doing this on a mac - could that be why?

Zotero 3.0.8 (can't install 4.0 on my current version of FF (14.0.1) and i don't seem to be able to upgrade to 21 on my mac... I'm guessing because i have OS X 10.5.8... yeesh, what do i do?

Word doesn't allow fields in text boxes - that's pretty much it, I don't see much in terms of a workaround beyond what you're already doing. (And, of course, not using Word to do actual layout on anything ;-))

You should be able to use frames instead of text boxes to insert citations. http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/word-help/the-difference-between-a-text-box-and-a-frame-HP005189333.aspx

Thanks =) I figured it out. My work around should be fine as I can "break the link" between the biblio and the citations when i send it to a non-Zotero enabled computer anyways so it should be fine =)
