zotero bar icon do not appear in safari

Hi, I have just installed the latest version of zotero on my mac. The zotero bar icon do not appear on my safari page. When I go to Zotero preferences>General>User interface, I have no option to select either 'load zotero in' or 'status bar icon'. I can only select the 'font size'. What can I do?

    I guess that you are using Z standalone. Have you also installed the Safari connector?

    Yes, I downloaded Zotero_Connector-3.0.8.1.safariextz from the zotero download page. I have also restarted my computer. The zotero connector appear on Safari>preferences>extension but not on the safari tool bar or in the Zotero preferences.

    If you control-click on the toolbar in Safari and choose Customize Toolbar, do you see the Zotero button as an option?

    (And there are no display options in the Standalone preferences, since Standalone doesn't display any buttons itself.)
