Importing to Zotero - Loading Issue

I'm having issues importing my Endnote libraries into the Zotero firefox tool.
All libraries are in RefMan (RIS) Export style, and saved as .txt.
I imported the first 3 libraries with no issues but since then the loading bar has been freezing and just running for 45 minutes to an hour without uploading.

Does anyone know what the issue could be with this?
  • What version of Zotero (and Firefox)?
  • Zotero 4.0.6
    Firefox 20.0.1
  • Update to 4.0.8 and give it another go.

If that doesn't work, you can try deleting the "_RIS import" tag (it marks note attachments created during import that contain data, which could not be stored in Zotero fields. so do whatever clean up you need before deleting the tag).

How big is the file you are trying to import? You can try splitting it up into smaller sizes to see if it's a particular entry in the file that is causing problems. If that's the case, please post the entry here so we can troubleshoot further.
  • I tried updating to 4.0.8, it didn't seem to make a difference, the import still freezes.

Sorry, I'm really new to using the tool. Should I be deleting the _RIS tag prior to import? If so, how do I do that?
I'm unable to import any new references from Endnote into the tool. The file is quite small, only 25kb.

Could you just clarify what the issue is? Is this an issue with importing, or with syncing? It looks like you do have a large download in progress from the server, with about 28,000 items being synced.
  • I'm having an issue with importing my endnote libraries into Zotero.

The files aren't large, there are only about 40-80 references between the different EndNote libraries that I am trying to import (individually).

When I try to import the Endnote library text file into Zotero the "Import" loading bar appears but freezes shortly after it starts. It continues on for 45 minutes to an hour (possibly longer, I haven't let it run for more than an hour) without any progress in the loading bar.

I hope that explains the issue a little more, thank you.

Are you able to provide a Debug ID for the import attempt? If so, do the number of lines logged keep increasing? (The counter updates every 10 seconds.)
  • also, if there is no private information (e.g. notes) in that RIS file, could you post it on http://gist.github.com and link to it here?
