Sync issue in standalone mac

Hello,
I cannot sync my zotero library with zotero server using standalone mac. It says 'Logging into zotero server' but nothing happens for at least 1 hour...

I don't know if this is related but: It was also not possible to update zotero using the 'check for update' button. I had to download the new version from the web and install it myself.

And now i realize that i cannot even submit debug logging to zotero server as well..

Is this somehow related to firewall? Thank you in advance for your help in this..
  • Are you connecting via a proxy server? The latest versions of the Mozilla framework we use seem broken with regard to system proxy settings.

Can you provide a Report ID?
  • I disabled the proxy and it's working now. Thank you!

I do need to use the proxy for off-campus access to the university's library though...
  • We're hoping this will be fixed in the next version of the Mozilla framework.

Dan, can you link to the relevant mozilla bug? I was thinking that for Standalone (does this only affects Standalone?) we could revert to an earlier version of XULRunner, but I'm not sure when this particular bug was introduced.
  • It's a more generalized hope. We haven't actually found a relevant Mozilla bug, and I just tried unsuccessfully to reproduce it on OS X. We can't really report it or even try to fix it until we can reproduce it, but we're working on it.

sarperd: Could you give us a few more details on your proxy setup? We don't need hostnames or URLs, but it'd be helpful to know exactly which proxy settings you've set up (PAC, HTTP, HTTPS, auto-discovery...). Also, what OS is this?

My OS is 10.8.3 and the setting is Automatic Proxy Configuration.
  • If you don't mind, could you email the PAC file to support@zotero.org with a link to this thread? (You can open it up in a text editor to make sure there's nothing sensitive in it. It should just be some domain names and IP addresses from your institution.)

Thanks. This might be fixed in Zotero 4.0.8, now available. Let us know if you're still having trouble.

  • I've updated to Zotero 4.0.8 and now I can sync Zotero behind a proxy. Good job!

    Best,
