File sync error occurred - eror number 1838345866
Posting this because, for some baffling reason one has to both report an error AND post it on the discussion forum.
When syncing, a little red button appears next to the rotating syncing icon with the message that a file syncing error has occurred. Advice to restart Firefox or machine.
This has no effect.

I'm not sure how that happened, but I've retriggered the removals on the server. Try again now, and provide another Debug ID if you're still getting an error.
The groups remain on my client, which continues to trigger the error. I have found a workaround remove all but one group from the client (there is no "remove group" option on the client, is there?
It consists of copying (well, dragging) a document into the group, then moving it to the trash, then emptying the trash, then syncing, at which point a pop-up informs you that you can re-sync and remove the group...
Is there an easier way to remove a group from the client?
Cheers.
If you want to help debug this, you can complete a sync and then post here, I'll retrigger the deletions, and you can generate a Debug ID for the next sync to see why the groups aren't being deleted. If you want to do this, you should temporarily disable auto-sync.
The Debug ID is D693533901
Still hanging around like a bad smell :)
Can you try again? The Debug ID needs to be for the very first sync after I trigger the removal.
Same result...
You can switch back to 4.0.6 afterward.
Yay, the group is gone!
The Debug ID is D1153560469
Thanks

For your PC, you'll just want to make sure you install the dev XPI before syncing. If you have auto-sync enabled (the default), you can temporarily disable it before opening the Zotero pane (which triggers auto-sync) by accessing the Zotero preferences from the Firefox Add-ons window. You can re-enable auto-sync after syncing.
There's a separate bug here that's preventing the edit-then-reset trick from working. I'm working on fixing that.
Just for completeness: You have just solved the problem on my Dell notebook / portable workstation. I have installed the dev XPI on my HP laptop and have disabled the auto-sync.
Will try to sort it out tonight.
Thanks again. Great tool and will continue to subscribe and preach the good word :)
