Dissertation Review Translator Broken?

Friends,

I'm trying to capture this Dissertation Review web page:

http://dissertationreviews.org/archives/2432

Instead, Zotero captures a Snapshot of this web page:

http://jetpack.wordpress.com/jetpack-comment/

Seems to be a Wordpress comment add-in, inserted into the bottom of the Dissertation Review page.

Suggestions appreciated!

There's no translator for that site, which you can see by hovering over the icon in the address bar. "Embedded Metadata" is a generic translator that reads data embedded in some webpages—in this case, just from that comment system.
  • (FWIW - the page in this case _also_ has metadata. We could see if we can adjust the embedded metadata translator so that it picks the data up from main frame, not the comment frame).
  • Thanks for the prompt responses. I've found that I can just drag the link into the central Zotero window, which more or less works. But the idea of "adjusting the metadata translator" seems like it might be worth pursuing, if time permits . . .
  • Alternatively to dragging the link you can also right-click-->Zotero-->Create New Item from Current Page
or use the icon of the same name in ZOtero (that option is Firefox only).

All three of those options get you minimal information, so where the URL bar icon works correctly it's always better.
  • Excellent. Thanks! LN
  • PS: I've sent the links to this discussion to the folks at Dissertation Review. We'll see if they respond.
  • this is fixed for the next Zotero version (4.0.6)
Better metadata from Dissertation Review along the lines of this
    http://www.zotero.org/support/dev/exposing_metadata
would still be great, but Zotero will correctly import the basic data they provide in their header rather than the nonsensical jetpack stuff.
  • I notice today that I'm having a similar issue here:

    http://cat.inist.fr/?aModele=afficheN&cpsidt=3293000

Dunno if this is on the Zotero list or not.

    Thanks!
  • what do you mean by similar issue? That's not a Wordpress site and there's no jetpack plugin on the page - you need to be more specific.
  • Sorry about the vagueness, and--Yikes!--I just tried it again and it's working nicely.

Yesterday it was not working for me, and I noticed the same "embedded metadata" message.
