Neooffice 2.2 lost tags

I have been working with a neooffice .odt (suggested by a forum post to avoid loss of zotero tags) file for several days, opening, saving, and closing with the zotero tags and bibliograpy working fine continuously, until it randomly stopped today. I don't know what I did differently if anything. When I try to insert a citation, I get a neooffice error: "action nor supported. invalid procedure call." New documents work fine. The Bibliography no longer shows up in a black outlined box, either. The incompatablity may be on the neooffice side, but there is a zotero error, which I reported, ID#1866002771 with zotero 1.0.6 and ID#2139731139 with zotero 1.0.7. Closing all programs and restarting my mac, and updating zotero, did not help.
  • Any part of the document with citations when copy-pasted into a new document causes that new document to give the error. However, although the initial problem document still has the (author, date) info in the text, when copied into a new document, it shows up as just {citation}. When copying from the second generation document to a new document, I can insert new citations, but the old one are just {citation}, so I'll have to go back and re-insert them all manually. Isn't there any more global way to fix/reconnect the origional document?
  • Also, when I mouse over the new, functional citations in "generation 3" working document, I see the informative "Reference:ZOTERO_ITEM{citations...descriptive information" but when I mouse over the dead citations I see "Reference:RND...randomcharacters"
  • If you don't mind sending the original document to support@zot....org, we can take a look.
  • Report ID # 1323050362 Is the difference between "sort_checkbox has no properties" and "this.docShell has no properties" informative? I think the "sort" error started appearing during my copy-paste troubleshooting.
  • Has this file been opened and saved in something other than .odt format? OpenOffice/NeoOffice reference marks don't round-trip to Word or Word format, so if you save a OO/NeoOffice document edited with the plugin as a .doc, open it (in Word or OO/NeoOffice), and re-save that document, those fields will be converted to plain text. Only bookmarks round-trip, and bookmarks mode is currently broken. The OO/NeoOffice plugins are currently being completely rewritten, and roundtrip capability with Word will be restored in the new version.

Unfortunately, though, this document no longer contains any usable fields.

See http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/2954/ for the same issue.
  • A long time ago it might have been a .doc, but if it had any citations then they were long ago broken, and deleted, and I saved the file as .odt and started fresh. Then inserted citations worked for a while, and suddenly stopped, without any such gross transgression as saving or opening in .doc or word. Saving in .odt was the preventative measure recommended here:

Might it have made a difference if I had deleted all the broken citations in the broken .doc and then copy-pasted the text to a new document, instead of using save-as? Or gone through a more drastic .rtf save and copy-paste or something?
Also, might this have anything to do with OO/NeoOffice? If so, I'd like to properly report it to them.
  • Also, thanks for looking at the broken document. If I'm going to reenter the citations I'd like to do it in the safest possible way. This is the third chapter of my thesis this has happened to, and my deadline is fast approaching. The other two were my fault if using the .doc format is dangerous, but I wish I knew what went wrong this time.
