New style file for Ridley Melbourne

Dear Zotero Developers,

I've created a new Zotero style file that conforms to the requirements of Ridley Melbourne (my file is based on the Society for Biblical Literature style file).

Here it is:
https://gist.github.com/2412867

Can you please review it and, if it is OK, add it to the repository?

Thank you very much,

Robert Turnbull
  • Your style does not validate.

    1st line:
    <style xmlns="http://purl.org/net/xbiblio/csl" version="1.0" class="note" default-locale="en">
    instead of
    <style xmlns="http://purl.org/net/xbiblio/csl" class="note" xml:lang="en">

    line 5:
    <link href="http://www.zotero.org/styles/ridley-melbourne" rel="self"/>

    line 28-29:
    <category field="theology"/>
    <category citation-format="numeric"/>

    etc.
  • More specifically, your style is still in the old CSL 0.8.1 format. You can either upgrade it to CSL 1.0 yourself, or make your modifications again in the CSL 1.0 version of SBL that is in the style repository.

    http://citationstyles.org/downloads/upgrade-notes.html#updating-csl-0-8-styles
  • lines 636-641 should be:
    <citation et-al-min="4" et-al-use-first="1" et-al-subsequent-min="4" et-al-subsequent-use-first="1" disambiguate-add-names="true">

    and lines 667-672:
    <bibliography hanging-indent="true" et-al-min="6" et-al-use-first="6" subsequent-author-substitute="-------" entry-spacing="0">

    Make the changes then check if your style validates (instructions here).
  • G'day Gracile,

    Thanks very much for your comments. I'm sorry that I gave you a dud file.

    I've modified the file in the way that you suggested and uploaded the new version here:
    https://gist.github.com/2413816

    I've checked it and I believe it should validate now.

    Sorry about the hassle.

    Rob

    I was wondering what the status of getting the Ridley style listed on the main site is?
  • is there a style guide available online?
  • We're happy to put this up, but we really do want some documentation for every style on the repository.
  • 1. How do I import this gist into my zotero? I just downloaded zotero, I've no idea how to get that gist into my computer.

    2. The ridley website for documentation purposes is:
    https://www.ridley.edu.au/
  • The current style guide is here:

    https://www.ridley.edu.au/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/2015-Student-Manual-updated-for-semester-two.pdf?9bb45b
  • right-click on the "Raw" link at the top right of the gist, save link as --> and save the file to your harddisk.

    Add the style from the Cite -->Styles tab of the Zotero preferences: click on the plus sign, then navigate to the file you've just downloaded.

    Note that we haven't reviewed the style at all (since the author never got back to us), so can't tell you how well it works or if it works at all.
