zotero plugin for firefox 16.0

Why is the plugin for firefox 16.0 missing from the addon center? Tried installing zotero 4.0 but it is incompatible with ff16. Please provide the old version of the plugin please? Many thanks.
  • Zotero has removed the add-on from the mozilla add-on center because the slow pace of updating the app over at mozilla left many users with FF20 but an incompatible Zotero extension. That wasn't the first time that happened.

You can download all old Zotero releases following the same pattern, e.g. the 3.0.14 release is at
    download.zotero.org/extension/zotero-3.0.14.xpi

that said, you really shouldn't be using Firefox 16. It does not receive updates anymore and you're exposing yourself and others to security risks.
  • Thanks for the prompt reply. The only reason I am using firefox 16 is because I am running linux mint 11, which repository is no longer updated. Tried installing ff20 manually but the buttons are missing for some reason. That is something difficult to live with, even more so than security risks.
  • and you can't get FF 17 to work? The ESR release?
  • Erm, not sure what ESR stands for. But I usually just rely on the synaptic package manager to auto update to the latest release. FF17 never appeared in it, so I assume it's the repository I have is no longer updated.

anyway, i just found out that the buttons appears after a restart. Never knew that I have to restart linux mint. So it's not an issue now. Thanks anyway for the help.
  • (ESR stands for Extendended Support Release - those are FF releases, mainly intended for companies and institutions, that are supported for 18 months (?) - so they require less frequent updates).
  • I see. Will try it out. Cheers.
