Purging entries from the auto-fill function

Hi --

I read this thread (http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/8955/) about removing superfluous entries from the auto-fill fields, and I am wondering if there have been any changes in the years since that thread ran. I have so many "Michael Smith/Michael J. Smith/Michael John Smith/M.J. Smith" entries that I have to then fix when compiling a bibliography, and I would love to make them uniform..

Thanks!
  • To summarize what I say there, auto-complete basically just shows you the set of creators linked to items in the database, so if you have a lot of different versions linked to items, you'll need to fix those on the individual items so that they're uniform. There is no batch editing functionality yet to make this easier. But once they're uniform, it won't suggest others.

There are two potential catches: 1) if an item is in the trash, it will still auto-complete from that, and 2) it might not purge unused creators until the next time you open the Zotero pane (or sync, I think) after you actually delete a creator from an item (as opposed to just renaming one).
  • Thanks -- I was hoping that batch editing had been introduced in the meanwhile. It would be a great feature.

It's planned, but it won't happen until (tentatively named) 4.1 or 4.2.
