Portable Firefox no longer launches from my USB key

...as of last week. I can't get it to boot from any computer. Have I missed an important update? Can I reinstall without losing all my research information stored in its library? Should I be depressed or is there a strategy I need to try?
  • I am not exactly sure what is going on. I would recommend that you back up your Zotero data directory, which is inside your Firefox profile, and then try reinstalling both portable Firefox and Zotero. When you reinstall Firefox you might try using the new portable version of Firefox 3
  • Thanks for the tip: Is the Zotero data directory stored on my hard drive, or on my USB key? Sorry to be so dense...I do back up my drive but I've never specifically "backed up" the Zotero data directory (I have a LaCie disk that backs up this computer once a week). Thanks for the advice and I'll check back to see what the next step is.
  • Your Zotero directory is inside your Firefox profile which is on your USB key. The Profile is most likely located at FirefoxPortable\Data\profile directory.
  • At the download site, I see only a version for Windows. I'm a Mac user--does this matter?
  • Are you referring to the portable version of Firefox 3? Here is a link to a Mac version.
