International Journal of Sports Medicine

Can someone provide citation style for sport science journal?
In particular can be very useful to have Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise, and International Journal of Sports Medicine.
  • there are a good number of sport science journals on zotero.org/styles
    beyond that, see
    https://github.com/citation-style-language/styles/wiki/Requesting-Styles
  • International Journal of Sports Medicine and most Thieme journals follows what is essentially Vancouver style but with author names in italics. When citing a book section the chapter authors are in italics but the book editors are not. The names of editors of whole books are in italics. The guidance for in-text marks is not specified (superscript, in curved or square brackets) the published version uses superscripts. Notable is the use of superscripted numbers preceding each item in the reference list.

I didn't thoroughly examine the many available Vancouver styles but I know that at least one will come very close.

The style requirements for Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise are straight US NLM style. In-text reference citations should be at baseline within parentheses not in superscript. This style is already provided by Zotero.

A "Thieme E-Journals Vancouver" style suitable for IJSM is now up on the repository. We'll add a style for IJSM itself shortly, but it will be identical, so go ahead and use the Thieme style if you need it.

edit: actually, the existing Thieme style won't sort correctly for IJSM.
  • IJSM is now up.
  • IJSM is still with problems. The name of the journal contains "Sports" and not "Sport" and the cintation in text is in numeric order.
