Can't save an item from a folder icon

I have just started using Zotero and have been able to successfully add items to my library. However, when the folder icon appears (in this case I was using it in Google Scholar) and I click on it, a box will appear asking me what items I would like to add to my library, I choose the items and click ok but then nothing happens, the items don't get saved to my library.

I have gone through some previous forum posts, and I have updated everything and have tried some of the suggestions there but nothing is working. I am using Zotero with FireFox.
  • You'll have to provide example URLs where this happens, and a Report ID if possible.
  • I assume you are running Firefox 19.0.2 then with Zotero 3.0.14. Your translators are up to date (Preferences -> General -> Update Now) and you are not using a proxy to access google scholar (i.e. the url looks like http://scholar.google.com/scholar?...)

First thing to try would be to clear your cookies and browsing data. If you don't mind losing cookies for all sites, you can open up the Firefox menu -> History -> Clear Recent History, select Everything and under Details check all boxes.

If you do care about keeping cookies and other data for other websites, then at the very least, go to scholar.google.com, right-click on the page, select View Page Info. Go to Security -> View Cookies. Select Remove All Cookies.

Now retry importing from Google Scholar (make sure you refresh the page if you still have a google scholar page open from before).

If that doesn't work, provide a Report ID
  • Hi
Yep I'm running Firefox 19.0.2 and Zotero 3.0.14 and everything is up to date.

I'm not running through a proxy, here is the URL http://scholar.google.com.au/scholar?hl=en&as_sdt=0,5&q=berners+lee

I had seen in the other threads to clear cookies, so I did this for the page and I have cleared the history on the browser as well and it is still not working.

    Report ID: 674878000
  • No Zotero errors in there. How about a Debug ID for a save attempt?
  • The Debug ID is D286628165.

Something's not right with the way we set the cookie. In the mean time, you should be able to import if you do the following:

    1. Go to http://scholar.google.com.au
    2. Go to Settings. On the bottom, select "Show links to import citations into " and choose "BibTeX"
    3. Save
    4. Now you should be able to search and import.

Edit: Wish I could reproduce this though. Everything works fine for me on the .com.au site. I'll see how we can make this more robust.
  • Hi guys
Sorry it is working now & I think it was my fault. My preferences in my browser were set to not save history I changed this and now it's working fine!
    Thanks
